ALERT****ALERT****ALERT****

Nothing new, I just want to get you all caught-up on the current promos.

I am also working on an Index page that you can look at before emailing me about a new promo. This page will be sorted by car number at first, and link you directly to the eNewsletter article or Alert for reference. I'm working hard on it, so please use it when I'm done, it'll be a good reference and include a glossary of terms too. One hurdle I have to get over is making sure the code I'm gonna use will work for Netscape users, I have to install a spare hard drive so I don't mess up my current (working) set-up!

I've also clicked our site into the NASCARWebSites Top 10!!! Has anyone been helping? I'm moving a link to the top of the home page, between the logo and table of contents. Actually, you can click on it anytime because it opens a new window, you won't even lose your place!

One more thing, I added the missing pictures to Issue 5. I also forgot to fill in some info about the Hoosier tires in the Scale Tires article, that's fixed too.

I just got some cars last week, and I want to let you know about them. I'll also add some comments about other cars from readers.

The order form shows the 2001 #7, it doesn't look like the real thing; but it looks a lot bigger than a 1/64 scale, and more detailed too. They sent me a pad of forms that I can give away, so if you want one (or several) send me a SASE, and I'll send as many as you like. You really only need one, there's a space to write how many cars you want and no mention of a maximum.

Kleenex is sponsoring Randy Lajoie in the #7 BGN Chevy this year. So I was surprised to open my Kimberly-Clark box and see a big 8 on the roof. A few minutes on the Jayski site, and I got to the bottom of the number difference. Bobby Hillin was driving the #8 Chevy last year, and Kleenex was his "new" sponsor for the 2000 season.

This is a top notch Racing Champions blister packed car that comes with a stand. The card declares "Adult Collectible", "Limited Edition", and "Sequentially Numbered"! On the back are several product names in the K-C family, the www.racingchampions.com address vs. the rcertl.com, and a 2000 copyright date.

Blister packs are almost impossible to open, so I didn't. It looks like one piece plastic wheels, and you can't see the chassis with the stand in the way. The stand is a little different, kinda arched, it has a slot to hold a driver's card but one is not included, and Kleenex is stickered on the front. The car and graphics are excellent! There is an abundance of race product decals, secondary sponsors, Goodyear on the fender and tires, and Bobby Hillin's signature over the windows. There are headlight decals, and the best 1/64 Monte Carlo taillights I've seen yet. The interior looks nice, long shifter, but not cartoonish, front and back glass has detailing to look like the rubber gaskets and metal stiffeners. The paint is not too thick, and I don't see any floopers in the graphics at all. I think R.C. did an excellent job on this car, I haven't seen a nicer car in any store (with the exception of the high priced H.O. cars - but even they don't have better paint and graphics!).

I did get some faulty info, and I got eMail to set me straight! Save your receipts! The complete requirements checklist is:

1) original order form or copy of the form
2) three original UPCs from products (previously listed) with cash register receipts dated through 12/15/01 with prices circled for each car
3) check or M.O. for $1.25 for each car, made payable to Kleenex Racing.

I was also corrected on the city, it's Mount Prospect, IL 60056

Let me know if any of you do get a #7, I had a few UPCs, but no receipts, so I guess I have to start over, but this car is worth it, I plan on getting another 1 or 2.

I also got my "Gold Edition" Hamburger Helper set of 3 cars. Brown edition would have been a better description, even the McD's Happy Meal gold is a better color. This is another set of cars packaged in little plastic bags, so many of the mail-in PoPs are just bagged (see below), all the more reason to take 'em out and display them. Most of the graphics are black outline, with the exception of the headlight and taillight decals.

I have some more info on the Hills Bros. coffee promo. The marketing guy, Pete said I can post these on the web site, what I got was blurry too, but here are some highlights. UPCs from any Hills Bros. products WITH the cash register receipt. The offer ends 12/01/01. There are 2 offers available, the 1/64 car for 1 UPC + $1.45 + $1.81 for S&H, and a Transporter with car for 4 UPCs + $10.00 + $4.22 for S&H. This is the offer where you could substitute $5.00 for each UPC (Alert #9). I did some quick math, that's $8.26 for the car and $34.22 if you can't find or don't drink their coffee! I'll pay the money for the item and shipping, but can anyone donate some UPCs and receipts? Their coffee just isn't around here!

John and Julie are chasing down a possible promo. Has anyone else come across this one? They found it on eBay, maybe it originally came from ALLTEL or the Race team website. The #02 ALLTEL team is losing Ryan Newman to the Penske team in 2002, "a hot Winston Rookie Driver to collect". The #02 Ford is reported to be a Team Caliber 1/64 car.

In the same email, John says he got his Lance Snacks exclusive. He said it came in one of those manila mailers (I'm sure we've all seen them before, the "brown edition" cars came in one). They usually make it in pretty good condition, but his was crushed beyond belief! He called customer service and will keep us posted.

I've been in touch with the Bayer people again since I haven't seen the 5th car yet. I guess they made a change to the Alka-Seltzer Cold formula, so that car wasn't released with the other 4 cars. The other thing is that they may ONLY be available at CVS Pharmacies! Y'all gonna havta help me out again! There is not a CVS to be found in my part of Southwest Florida. If you come across this car, let me know, I will gladly trade another car of comparable value. I really would like a couple with product attached.

One final thing, I've seen the Kellogg's #5 Monster's Inc. on some other boxes. The thing to look for seems to be a 2" - 3" banner across the top front with the monsters and the scream message. The car order form will be on the side.

OK - I really have to send this now!

Keep your eyes peeled - they're out there!
