ALERT****ALERT****ALERT****

Starting on Friday (I think), ProMoCo told me about this Promo. The Current Rookie of the Year points leader, (and all around controversial guy) Kevin Harvick drives the White #29 GM Goodwrench Service Plus Monte Carlo. So far I've only found order forms on Nilla Wafers, but you can use UPCs from Nilla Wafers, Nutter Butter cookies, and Cheese Nips crackers (Nabisco). You only need 2 per car, but you pay $2.99 for the car and a buck Shipping and Handling. There is no limit on a single order form, but the Promo expires 12/31/01. You may even win a Monte Carlo SS with the Nilla Waffers; got a banana?

Next, he told me he stopped by Home Depot to pick up some stuff, and there, by the register were twin blister packs with #20 and #18 Coca-Cola Polar Bear cars, with interiors and neat graphics on the hood. Seems to have all the Associate sponsors, but no race product decals except the Goodyear over the front wheelwell. No additional purchase, so these are officially Exclusives, but for $6.97, this pair of cars is a lot less expensive than the Tony Stewart car they had a couple years ago.

I'm not exactly sure how to classify the next one, a type of Exclusive, I guess. If you browse over to http://www.ApexSupply.com and follow the links for Apex Racing, you'll see the Tony Stewart Toys-R-Us #20 KaBoom Car, click on the words to read all about it. It should be available at Toys-R-Us starting Nov. 1st.

A new reader, John Eubanks, brought me up to date on several Promos. Another gas station promo that doesn't seem to be new, and so far I've only been able to check at two stations. It is reported as the 2000 #21 Citgo/MDA car. Don't know when it started, or if it's still at stations, but there are 2 1/64 scale cars and two 1/24 scale cars available at their on-line store.

He also reminded me of the 2001 #01 Cingular/Special Olympics car, I have a call into one store that says they re-ordered, but no cars yet. This was originally reported way back in Alert #3!

I apologize for the next one, I've had mine for months, but since it's an Exclusive, and not a Promo, I never thought of mentioning it. If you have an Albertsons' nearby, you should be able to pick up a Racing Champions 2001 #57 Albertsons' Busch Series car. Lots better than the free car paired with the Tony Stripes of Terry Labonte I told you about months ago.

The next one is an actual Promo, I'm working on a contact at Mrs. Smith's to get some extra particulars, since this seems to be an older Mail-In PoP. I've looked, and not seen any specially marked packages yet. I hope to get an idea of how many might still be available, and how you can order the 2001 #10 Valvoline/Mrs. Smith's Pies car if you can't find the offer with your next dessert.

Speaking of contacts and cars still available, I checked with Bosch when I found my link dead in Alert #2. The link should be fixed any day, and they still have cars left, but hurry and replace those plugs and wipers, offer ends 12/31/01. I should have sent my first one in a while ago so I could have reported to you, but I just sent in for all three last week.

Finally, again from John Eubanks, and originally from Ron (I think, email was left at work), there seems to be noticeable differences between early and later versions of the #3 Oreo Cookie car. Originally, Ron sent me a heads-up and told me about the size difference of the Goodwrench over the rear wheelwell, and mentioned he had a list of 7 (or 7 more) differences, but couldn't find the list (been there!). In the meantime, I got this eMail from John, and here is his list of 6, in his own words:

"1. Goodwrench over the rear wheels is different in size on the rear panels above tires.
2. Different amount of Sponsor stickers over and behind the front tires.
3. Jack placement markers on both sides of the car are different - blue GM on one car, red stripe on the other.
4. Bowtie on license plate area on back of car is different color - red on one, blue on the other.
5. On taillights on back of car, one car has a 3 on the right light, the other car has a 3 on both tail lights.
6. Color on inside of car is grey although one is slightly a darker shade.

There is no differences in the boxes they come in, both inner clear plastic box and outer cardboard box have the exact same decorations."

So what other differences are there?

Keep your eyes peeled - they're out there!
