TV Dinners & Questions
I haven't heard from Bette and Joe in a while, but they were the first to check in with the Banquet TV dinners.
This is two offers in one, a contest to be part of Terry Laborte's Pit Crew and a 1/64 scale car Mail-In Promo.
Mike was the first to tell me about the ad he heard on the radio for a BP/Amoco Promo.
8 gallons of gas and $1.99 will get you Ken Schrader's M&M's car.
He mentioned he didn't find any stations carrying them on his way home from a Florida vacation (and he didn't even drop by to visit).
IronIce in N.C. added that it's a boxed Racing Champions car, and he found it in only one of the ten stations near him.
IronIce also found the #17 Visine car on Cortizone 10 with Aloe.
He mentioned that Kraft does have a promotion besides the contest, and order forms should be available in grocery stores.
Has anyone seen them? You might want to grab some extras for your collecting compatriots, but don't hog them all!
He also passed on some good info on the BUSS fuses cars.
He seems to have a great collection of the BUSS cars, not to mention 285 Promos since 1996 (some are Exclusives).
He says he has all the '99 cars listed in DCD, except the Valvoline #6, but then he mentions finding the #99 Exide Batteries car.
He has the 2000 #5 Kellogs's, #6 Valvoline, #12 Mobil 1, #22, and the Ron Hornaday #3 NAPA Busch car (made by Action, instead of RC, like the rest).
He also mentioned that the cars are packaged differently.
The cars he found at NAPA have a white and green background card with a NAPA symbol in the upper left corner, and the fuses are in a green box.
His Dad got some at Checkers (Auto) in Arizona, they have a yellow and white background card, and the fuses come in a yellow box.
Richard found a 1/24 scale Exclusive at Albertson's, that's both sizes available for the Jason Keller #59.
He found the Banquet offer the same day ProMoCo did.
It seems Harold, also from Missouri, found a new NAPA exclusive.
Ron Hornaday and the #3 (Busch) car will have a Dracula paint scheme.
Here are the details he sent me: 1/64 scale, dark blue Action clear window model.
Dracula and the words "Monsters" & NAPA on the hood, and "NAPA Brakes" on the trunk.
On the sides it has pictures of Dracula, the moon, and an "object below Dracula", the number 3, NAPA Auto Parts and Burger King.
The chassis is stamped "2000 Monte Carlo".
He said the store had 12 of them, maybe he's interested in trading or selling these.
Does anyone know for sure when these "Monster" cars ran?
Tom has a couple of cars(?), OK, trucks he told me about.
I don't think we want to get into these here, they are another category, does someone out there want to start a new website?
They are Track Cars, OK, Trucks, and unless you're a crew member, autosport journalist or independently wealthy, absolute NASCAR Nut, you'll be hard pressed to seriously collect these.
I have a '92 Charlotte Program car, and a friend has a Coca-Cola 600 May 29, 1994 Charlotte Program Car, and I'm disappointed in those DCD values!
Speaking of websites, one of our members has a site dedicated to fastfood promos, check it out at www.theflash.0catch.com (that's a zero not the letter O).
Neat website with good info, but I get a white background and yellow letters, I guess it's a Netscape/Explorer thing.
Did anyone get the Pedigree car that was supposed to be packaged in the big bag of dog food at K-Mart?
Has anyone seen the Snicker's version that was scheduled for June/July?
Has anyone recieved this year's Mrs. Smith's car that also has last year's, are they different or the same?
Also does anyone know about a Pace Picante Promo car from a couple of years ago.
Other readers are asking, and I'll put the answers in the next Alert.
Until then;
Keep your eyes peeled - they're out there!
