Another GM & A New One
Oops! I did not find special editions of the Target Promos.
I just made an over-encompassing statement, they don't all have Target on the trunk.
Several of you caught me on that one.
I'll let "ProMoCo" write most of this one.
"Hey, Guido, can you stand one more #43 mail-in offer?
Grands! Biscuits is now offering a 1/64 #43 promo.
I suppose it will look something like this: http://jayski.thatsracin.com/schemes/2002cup/43grands-layout.jpg
Requirements are: Print complete name, address, city, state, zip, and quantity ordered (limit 3) on a 3 x 5 card.
Send with three (3) UPCs from Grands! Biscuits and $1.25 s/h for each car ordered to:
Grands! Biscuits Die Cast Car Offer
PO Box 3043
Maple Plain MN 55592-3043
Offer expires 5-31-03 or while supplies last.
Limit of 3 cars per family or household.
Allow 16 weeks for delivery.
I've received both the #18 Bobby Labonte/Banquet and [at last] the #43 John Andretti/HN Cheerios Buzz Bee so far this week.
The #18 is a very nice clear-window piece by Action with lots of associate sponsor decals [more than 60 by my count] and great detail.
It even has a tiny but readable "John 3:16" just below the right faux taillight.
However, I'm disappointed that it came in a baggie; at $3.25 per I had expected a blister pack or window box.
Also, it has a white [ugh] window net.
The #43 is also a neat car and a definite improvement over last year's Buzz Bee promo and the one available at Target stores earlier this summer.
It's still your typical General Mills non-branded black-window piece but, unlike those other two, this #43 has at least 60 associate sponsor decals and also has John Andretti's name above the windows."
Thanks for all the info!
I had initially put the Grands! notice in Alert #29 and from what I found out, the offer wasn't supposed to be available until October.
I've been keeping an eye out for them all along though, but I didn't have the Mail-In info, if you don't need a dated cash register receipt, I guess we can get in early on this one!
John from Pittsburgh sent me a couple of Promos too.
A PoS and a PoP, the Mail-In first.
I don't know who'll be interested, but Spam has a Panel Van Truck Promo, looks like a HotWheels or Matchbox, and it's not NASCAR related, if you really want the info, I'll forward it to you. It was a Sunday paper coupon, and it might be an "official order form" offer.
Also, he discovered (and I found it too) a Jimmie Johnson #48 Lowes car at Lowes.
Look in the Flooring department for a Children's Playmat ($19.95) that says "Includes Special Lowes Car".
My only gripe is it's a city scape and not a racetrack - what were they thinking!
I've also received a Mail-In offer recently.
I sent in my M&M's Packs2Points and my Shipping and Handling check and got my 1/24 and 1/64 cars.
They are both HotWheels cars, as a matter of fact, the 1/24 car is identical to an off-the-shelf boxed car.
I've looked for the 1/64 packaging in the stores, but can only find the "Sticker" versions.
This is a simple Blister Pack 2002 HotWheels Racing packaging, as a matter of fact it is a lower quality car than the one I bought.
I am writing the November DCD article on the Pontiac "Nose" job, and I have side by side comparisons of the 2 Promo cars and 3 retail cars - all #36 M&M's Paint Jobs.
For those of you not planning on buying the Magazine, I will tell you the Retail HotWheels has a metal chassis with very good detail, "RealRider" tires, black Windshield gaskets and stiffeners and the body is better.
The Promo has a low detail plastic chassis, clear windows with no "gaskets", plastic tires, and the body is a little more "toy-like".
The "A" and "B" pillars roofline and rear spoiler are most notably different.
