Nothing New

I was so excited to find a new Promo myself, I forgot to add some info to the last Alert that I wanted to get out to the faithful.

I did get my 1/24 Hershey's Harvick car today, a little more on that later. I also got a few Craftsman Funny Cars for those who thought they didn't need $75 worth of tools. By the way, the crudely drawn picture of the Lipton Promo doesn't show a number, no idea if it's Busch, or Winston, or just fantasy. Clif already got his, and confirmed my fears. No number, other sponsors or driver's name, he doesn't think it's a racing paint scheme either.

I am missing several PoS Promos that just haven't shown up in my neck of the woods, or not at all.

First, has anybody seen any new K-Mart/#36 cars lately? There are at least 2 that should have been available (according to the display). I never got word of the Pedigree School Spirit or the M&M's Halloween cars. Did anyone see them? I got the three others, the first plain M&M's, the regular (2001 actually) Pedigree, and the Snickers Cruncher.

I haven't found the PoP-Secret car either, I did find two six packs shrink wrapped together with a promo. I walked away from it twice, if it hadn't been my favorite all-time driver, I wouldn't have turned around. So now I have a Richard Petty bobblehead in a windowed display box. I finally have a change after snacking on all that Target cereal. I'm also waiting on the Great Pumpkin, I think the Home Depot people are calling me Linus behind my back. They keep telling me that they're still waiting for them.

The Kevin Harvick #29 Goodwrench Chevy is a standard Action 1/24 car (not a bank or Elite). It is a nice car with Opening Hood and Trunk, full suspension and wired engine. The engine is supposed to be Chevy specific, I'll have to take their word for it, I can say the distributor is in the back. The front suspension has springs, but I wish they weren't shiny chrome, the rear is molded plastic springs. The interior looks nice and complete, but I noticed my fuel cell was missing the overflow hose that I saw on several other models. Not bad for a Promo, just 200 wrappers and around $5.00 for shipping you get a $55.00 car (price from the website) that you would have to pay around $5.00 shipping for anyway. Of course 200 candies at about $.50 each is $100, but I sold them to people in the office at my cost as long as they gave me the wrappers back - I'm sure I didn't eat more than $20 dollars worth myself, so that's what it actually cost me - not bad.

My address is on the homepage of my website, if you send something to me, please send it via US Mail (they're less expensive for small stuff anyway). If it needs to be UPS or FedEx, let me know, I may give you another address.

Another request! Please try to determine if a Promo you're reporting is a current Promo or an old one. Check for a © Copyright date on the box if it's in one. The year on the chassis can vary widely, I saw a 2000 chassis on a brand new Promo, the underneath doesn't change that much. Also check expiration dates on Mail-In Promos, if the offer is past the date, I would be suspect of the food too!

Another way is to check the "Known Promos" pages. I have all of 2001 done, complete with five different sorts. Car Number, Driver Name, who's Promotion, Main Sponsor, and Alert Number. In any case, you can click on the Alert Number, and it will take you to that page. I'm working on 2002, and with any luck I'll be current (at least monthly) in 2003. As I get my collection totally cataloged, I'll include a camera icon that will show a picture when clicked.

I hope I get my Tony Stewart Promo cars before the end of the season!

Keep your eyes peeled - they're out there!
