Odds & Ends

Tim from Okeana, Ohio told me about a Promo from the Civil Air Patrol. He wrote: "I just got in the mail the free Civil Air Patrol race team gift bag you get if you mention you saw their ad in the 2002 NASCAR press guide which includes a cap, sticker, & t-shirt. Driver Ashton Lewis' site is taking pre-orders for DieCasts of his Civil Air Patrol car that will be out soon." One thing Tim, do you have a phone number or website?

JHome was one of the first to tell me about the new Old Spice Endurance Deodorant and cologne set with a (now Champion) Tony Stewart car. He saw it in a CVS Pharmacy (but others report K-Mart) and said "This is not as nice a set as last years, but I will still buy it." He also got a super great deal! In his words "My daughter was in a K-Mart store near Boston, MA, and they had the #36 cars next to the candy bars. She asked the young man checking her out how much they were. He said he did not know, but if she bought the candy bars at a price of 3 for $1.00 she could have 3 cars for free." I had to buy 12 candy bars at that price just to get one, and I'm sure most of you did too. Speaking of M&M's and the #36 car, ProMoCo found this: "M&M is having a closeout sale on the #36 diecast cars and other selected merchandise in the Turn Packs Into Points mail-in offer. See http://p2p.mms.com/p2p/merch.html.

The 1/64 car now requires only 2 points (was 20 points). The 1/24 car is now only 5 points (was 75 points). The M&M racing team hat is now only 10 points (was 100 points)." The Shipping & Handling charges are still the same, but now I can get a couple of spare cars and a hat!

And speaking of candy, Jerry from Illinois sent this heads-up: "On the Hershey's website I saw where Harvick is gonna race Busch again next year, and Payday is gonna sponsor the car. So I contacted their Public Relations and was told the NEW promotion starts in January. I was given a number to call then, so start saving them UPCs again!" Now we have to find out if only Paydays count, or any Hershey candy.

More Chocolaty news. Jerry again sent me this news. "I looked at the Nesquik site yesterday! You can get the 2001 1/64th blister pack at Nestle (Nesquik Racing), go to 2001 closeouts. It's $2.50 and 3.00 s&h with a downloadable order form at the bottom of page." Of course, that makes this an Exclusive since you don't need any UPCs.

Clif sent me a complete (?) listing of Nesquik/Nestea cars. "All were PoP Mail In offers and all were 1/64:

He ended with: "I did manage to get all of these. If there have been others, I'm not aware of them." Any one else find some other Promos?

If all this information gave you a headache, don't fret, Kenny out in Chandler, Arizona found something. "I saw at Wal-Mart last night that they have another Excedrin Promo car again with the purchase of the big box of pills. This time it's the #92 car of Todd Bodine. Maybe you've seen it before but I haven't." I've heard of people still finding the Andy Houston car, or not specifying, but I haven't found this one yet either, and I'm out of Aspirin, Aleve, and Excedrin. I'm bummed-out, I haven't found any PoS cars lately, I only have 3 of the 4 Bayer cars this year, never did find the Pop-Secret, and I have a hankerin' for some popcorn, thanks to Jerry from Illinois for sending me an extra. I haven't found the Old Spice (this one or the 10 bars of soap) or this Excedrin. As some of you said: "This IS Frustrating!"

Todd and Amy were one of the first to eMail me a new K-Mart, since then several others have either seen the ad in the Sunday paper or found the Promo. "Just got a totally new 36 Kmart/M&M car. It is a blister like the others. The car has a patriotic scheme with Fireworks and a flag. Same deal as before $4 worth of product gets you the car." Interestingly, I've also been getting reports of the Cruncher, Halloween, and #41 K-Mart School Spirit from different parts of the country. I suggest you get as many of any other than the 1st M&Ms or Cruncher, and try to trade, it looks like no-one is getting all three new ones, and you can collect M&M UPCs for the HotWheels Exclusives (not really since they're the same ones I see at Wal Mart) "blow-out sale".

If you can't find the Great Pumpkin at Home Depot either, Frank Lee in Siloam Springs ,AR has some info. "I wanted to let you know I found the home depot cars in Tulsa OK. I called them and they mailed the cars to me; add some postage on them. I did have to use a credit card, the phone # is 1-918-632-0069"

Finally, a few of you sent die-cast donations in the last month or so. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!! I wrote down a couple of them, but since there were a few all in one day, I got them confused. Since I'm making out my Christmas List, could you please send a quick eMail with your address and which car(s) you sent.

Keep your eyes peeled - they're out there!
