Thanks to the ProMoCo for these new finds, he must do his own grocery shopping!
I usually run in, get what I need, and consider myself lucky if I come across a Promo.
Sometimes, when I get a tip, I'll go to that aisle looking specifically for a Promo, and I might run across another one, but I like knowing you are all out there looking too.
He told me about these Honey Nut Cheerio promos a few days before I found the first one; and I've been looking for them.
I guess I have to chalk that up to living at 'the end of the tracks', historically the trains only went as far as Punta Gorda, then several years later Ft Myers, on the west coast of Florida.
So it takes an extra couple of days to get to our shelves sometimes.
These promos seem to be specific to 20oz HN Cheerios for the included car, and 14oz HN Cheerios for the Mail-In PoP.
Let me know if you see any variations out there (I'm getting real tired of the HN, at least make them the Apple Cinnamon for a change!).
According to ProMoCo, the 14oz box has a Mail-In deal for a 'free' #43 car and sticker set "with cool race decals you apply!" (see upcoming article in eNewsletter on Happy Meal Set).
You need the Original Order Form, 2 UPCs from Cheerios or HN and $1.25 postage for each car ordered.
I guess it looks like one of the cheepo cars with little detail and none of the little race product sponsors.
Kinda like the Tony Tiger & Albertsons' set from Alert #1 or the Circle K and Shell promos from the eNewsletters.
The big box of HN Cheerios has a plastic bagged car thrown in, not inside the cereal for once.
Collect all seven, the problem is you don't know which one you're getting.
I have set up a 'swap meet' now, I'm sure those of you who will collect these will have some doubles to trade for that one you just can't get.
Some of these look like previous offerings.
ProMoCo got the regular 2001 Cheerios Dodge and says "It's exactly like the #43 Dodge in the Cheerios/Countdown to Daytona promotion.
I believe all seven cars have been offered previously in various General Mills promotions.
It looks as if they're cleaning out their overstocks from past promotions.".
The two I got were new to me, but I'll keep you informed of any "no doubt-it's the exact same" duplicates.
Here's the list, followed by a (*) if I have one in my collection that looks like pictures on the box:
2001 Cheerios/Betty Crocker #43 Dodge (*)
2001 Sprint #45 Dodge (*)
2001 Petty Enterprises #44 Dodge
2000 Pop-Secret #43 "Flame Car" Pontiac a.k.a. "Butter Bomber"
2000 Pop-Secret #43 "Photo Car" Pontiac a.k.a. "Pop Rod"
2000 Pop-Secret #43 "Icon Car" Pontiac a.k.a. "Kernel Cruiser"
2000 Cheerios/Betty Crocker #43 Pontiac
(My Pop-Secret cars are #26 - must have been 1999)
(If you have a previous #43 or #44 that I don't, let me know, if you have duplicates, feel free to donate it so it can appear in a future issue of the eNewsletter - full credit will be given for donated cars, maybe even in DCD!)
I will be publishing my complete list of Promos soon, otherwise it'll take years for me to review them all, the 'Swap Meet' is set up and some of my duplicates are posted.
Don't worry, if you don't have trades, I won't sell them, but I will send a free car for donations to the Newsletter.
Wow, the Alerts are getting as long as the Newsletter!
This was split into 2 Alert eMails, but it is posted as one Alert on the WebSite.
I got a good entry in the guestbook, I'll check with the author if I can publish some excerpts.
Or just go to the guestbook and read it, while you're there add an entry for yourself!
Keep your eyes peeled - they're out there!
Ask the Editor for more information.
